The Exodus mural spans an entire block in Boyle Heights. Solana worked for six weeks, painting only at golden hour when the light matched the journey she was depicting.
“My grandmother's photograph faded decades ago. But I remember every detail of her face. This wall is her portrait.”
— Solana Reyes
Reyes incorporates actual soil from the Arizona-Sonora border into her paint mixture. 'The land becomes part of the work,' she explains.

Exodus celebrates movement not as loss, but as transformation. The central imagery—figures walking toward a horizon that shifts from orange to blue—represents the passage from one life to another.

“Every migration is an act of faith.”

“The desert doesn't forget. Neither do I.”

“Movement is memory in motion.”
